I'm inclined to agree with you TMP on the former - Mears was in his pomp in that PL season, Trips isn't a PL player yet - but I think Trips is more than matching Mears' contribution as a Championship player and his attitude makes him a more welcome proposition for us. I compare Fox with Mee because Easton was not Howe's signing - we already had him - I think Mee is a better defensive left-back than Fox (though admittedly not going forward) and his versatility in being able to play centrally gives us added value. Fox was out of his depth defending in the PL I thought. My personal preference is for Mee than Fox at left back.
